THE EILEEN GRAY WINDOW DISPLAY AWARD

Enniscorthy Shop Owners are asked to get creative once again for Wexford International Literary & Arts Festival, 2020.

Participating shopkeepers must create a Literary Themed Window Display, to be showcased before and during the festival, from 28th June – 5th July 2020.Inspiration can come from a favourite book, poem or character! The scope is endless, let your imaginations fly!  We cannot wait to see the results.Our winning window in 2017 was Kilcannon, who astounded us all with their Alice In Wonderland themed display. In 2018, it was The Presentation Centre, including the wonderful visual artists interpretation of local Wexford authors published stories and 2019, Joint Winners from Toffee and Thyme and Glamour Boutique.To register your interest in participating, please email: [email protected] The winner of The Eileen Gray Window Display Award will be announced at our Awards Ceremony on Friday 3rd July, in The Presentation Centre, Enniscorthy, where they will be presented with a crystal trophy.

Entry requirements

Entry requirements for Eileen Gray Window Display Award

Language

Entries must be in English.

Word Count

Entries must be between 1,800 and 2,200 words in length . Entries outside this word count will not be permitted and will be automatically rejected and be formatted: 12pt, double-spaced or 1.5 spaces, Times New Roman.

Original

Entries must be the original work of the author and must not have been previously published either in writing or electronically. Entries which have received awards in other competitions are also ineligible.

Accepted

Only short stories will be accepted. Poetry and prose entries are inadmissible.

Aurthenticity

The author’s name and details should only appear on the accompanying e-mail. Please ensure that the title is clearly marked at the top of the entry and each page thereafter. The author’s name must NOT appear on the entry submitted, only on the e-mail accompanying the piece.

Entries

Entries will be accepted until midnight 1 MAY. Entries received after this date will not be considered. 

Decision

The judges’ decision is final and Wexford Literary Festival will not enter into correspondence concerning the judging or merits awarded. The onus is on the author to ensure that their entry complies with the rules of the competition

Submission

Entries should be submitted electronically only. Hard copies will not be admissible

Shortlisted

Shortlisted writers will be invited to attend the award ceremony on Friday 3rd July 2020 , however all expenses incurred will be the writer’s own.

Copyright

While copyright of the shortlisted story will remain with the author, Wexford Literary Festival reserves the right to arrange the first publication and broadcast of the selected works. The right to use the stories to further publicise this award is also retained by Wexford Literary Festival. Shortlisted authors will agree to have their photograph taken and used for publicity purposes by Wexford Literary Festival.

Fee

The entry fee of 10 euro must be paid via our online payment system. IF it is not in your entry name, in your email with your story state the name of the person or the organisation/business that is paying so that accounts can be reconciled.
