A Centenary Commemoration on the  exact date of the battle in Enniscorthy, 1922






CEREMONY

A Ceremony to mark the Anniversary of the Battle of Enniscorthy 1922, will take place outside the Enniscorthy Castle, Castle Street on Saturday 2nd July 2022 commencing at 11am. Historically, this is the exact date of this battle.

WHO

The Ceremony will be led by the Chair, Enniscorthy Municipal Council, with keynote speakers James Brown, Minister of State and locally based Enniscorthy TD and Catherine Smyth, National Chair, 1916 Families, an historical author from Bunclody, who was the keynote speaker at the Garden of Remembrance Ceremony, Easter, 2022.

OVERVIEW

An overview of the Enniscorthy Battle by Barry Lacey, Historian in Residence, Wexford County Council will be followed by the Re-enactment of The Battle of Enniscorthy at Enniscorthy Castle, narrated by Barry Lacey and performed by Re-enactors from Lord Edwards Own and Enniscorthy Historical Re-enactment Society (EHRS).

TIME

After this ceremony there will be a laying of a wreath at Enniscorthy Post Office at 12.45pm.
